The relevance of humans

What must we put to death?

Scripture

What must we put to death?

Following Christ means leaving behind the patterns of the old life.

“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you…” ( Col. 3:5)

Scripture names sexual immorality, impurity, evil desire, covetousness, anger, malice, slander, and obscene talk as things that no longer belong in the life of someone who follows Christ.

We may once have walked in these things — but in Jesus, we are called to a new life.

Put away the old. Walk in the new. Follow Christ. ✝️

What is our legal status before God?

Scripture

What is our legal status before God?

Scripture makes the problem clear: none of us are righteous by ourselves, and no amount of law-keeping can justify us before God.

“For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight…” (Rom. 3:20)

The law exposes sin, but it cannot save us. That is why we need Christ.

“So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.” (Gal. 3:24)

Guilty by ourselves. Justified by faith in Christ.

Why is man important?

Scripture

Why is man important?

Because humanity was created in the image of God.

“So God created man in his own image… male and female he created them.” (Gen. 1:27)

Our value does not come from success, ability, status, or what others think of us. It comes from the God who made us.

And yet Scripture also reminds us that we are fragile — “we are dust.” God knows our weakness and still shows compassion toward us.

Created in his image. Known in our weakness. Loved by our creator.

What is idolatry

Scripture

What is idolatry?

Idolatry is giving worship, devotion, or ultimate allegiance to something created instead of to the creator.

Deuteronomy warns against bowing down to images, animals, the sun, moon, stars, or anything else God has made.

“Beware lest you… bow down to them and serve them. (Deut. 4:19)

The issue is not only statues or carved images. Anything that takes God’s rightful place in our hearts can become an idol.

Worship the creator — not the creation. ✝️

How should we live?

Scripture

How should we live?

Romans 12 gives us a beautiful picture of Christian life: share joy, share sorrow, live in harmony, and walk in humility.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” (Rom. 12:15)

Following Christ means caring deeply about others — celebrating with them in good seasons, sitting with them in hard ones, and refusing pride or superiority.

Love people well. Walk humbly. Live in harmony. ✝️
