Many people agree that Jesus existed. Even those who reject Christianity often acknowledge him as a real historical person.
But history isn’t the biggest question.
Some say he was just a myth. Some say He was only a great moral teacher. Jesus claimed far more than that.
He spoke with divine authority. He exposed the true condition of the human heart. He came to save sinners. He is the promised Messiah, the Lord God Almighty, and the only Saviour.
The question isn’t whether Jesus lived, but what you do what that and who he is to you. Need more info, download the Why Jesus book here.
“You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matt 1:21)
Jesus, the King of kings, humbled himself to the point of death on a cross.
The difference between sinful humanity and our perfect saviour couldn’t be greater. One leads to destruction. The other leads to life. May we stop looking to ourselves and instead look to Christ, who gave everything to save sinners like us.
Romans 3:10–12 affirms that all of us are sinners: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
Verse 23 is certain that human beings across the globe fall short of the glory of God: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
The truth is emphatic in Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
Because of our sick hearts, our lives are sinful as explained in Mark 7:21–23 “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
But the good news, which is the gospel is found in 1 Timothy 1:15 “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.”
The writer of Hebrews 1:1–2 makes a pertinent point: “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.”
